Florence Junior Senior High School RE-2 Greenhouse Project
The Florence Junior Senior High School (FJSHS) Agriculture Department applied for a Perkins Innovation Grant for the purchase of plants flowers and seeds to supply a greenhouse. The grant did not cover the cost of the greenhouse however. FCD supported this greenhouse with $2500 in matching funds. The purpose of the greenhouse will be to open an agricultural market that will service the school and community. This operation will offer a variety of products that are produced by students on the FJSHS campus. All products will be grown, packaged and / or processed by agricultural students. This unique market will unify and showcase the products of the different enterprise units of the agriculture department. Within the market, customers will find many products of the plant science and floriculture programs. This operation will fill a need within our community in service of nursery products / florals while still providing valuable learning experiences for students. Greenhouse is in progress - pictures below.
