Oak Creek Grade Cistern Assists with Wildfire

Earlier this year the Fremont Conservation District partnered with Oak Creek Grade Volunteer Fire Department to install a 1,000-gallon underground cistern with an initial water fill. On June 26th--less than a month after the cistern was installed--a wildfire began near Grape Creek. Multiple agencies responded to the fire and crews utilized water from the new cistern. The fire was 100% by June 27th, having burned 3.6 acres of BLM land.
