Fremont Conservation District Welcomes New Board Member

On Wednesday June 5th, the Fremont Conservation District welcomed Trevor Aronson to the Board of Supervisors. Trevor is a Colorado native, and an avid outdoor enthusiast with a passion for fly fishing, hunting, wildlife, and land conservation. His experience in emergency services has provided him with extensive knowledge in wildland firefighting, post-fire restoration, and numerous wildland mitigation projects at both local and federal levels. Trevor's career includes a long history of service to local, state, and federal initiatives; his commitment to helping others has seen him actively involved in local conservation efforts, community education, and emergency response initiatives. As a Water Rescue/Dive Rescue specialist, Trevor has collaborated with the Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District to identify water rescue hazards and develop safety plans for Larimer County. He has also participated in the annual Children's Water Festival, offering engaging safety education. Trevor looks forward to continuing his stewardship in Fremont County. Welcome Trevor!

 

School Gardens Project

The Fremont Conservation District is proud to sponsor edible gardens at the following schools: Rocky Mountain Children's Discovery Center, Mountain View Core Knowledge School, Fremont County Head-Start, Bright Beginnings Learning Center, and Florence JR/SR High School. May was a great month of planting these gardens, and we are excited to see them grow over the summer!

 

Bloomin' Buddies Floral Design Classes

In partnership with Touch of Love florist in Canon City, these classes offer the opportunity for kids to learn about pollinators and to design their very own take home floral arrangement! Classes are open to kids ages 5 and up. 

Classes are will run from 11AM to Noon, and are scheduled to be held on June 5th, July 17th, and August 7th. 

Classes are $30 per student with scholarships available from the Fremont Conservation District. To register, please visit Touch of Love Florist at 1201 S. 9th Street, Canon City, CO.   

 

Camp Rocky

The Fremont Conservation District is proud to sponsor scholarships to Camp Rocky. Camp Rocky is an educational, residential camp for ages 14-17 who enjoy the outdoors and are interested in natural resources, agriculture, or environmental science. The Camp will happen in Divide, Colorado from July 7th-12th. For more information, please visit our website(fremontcd.org), or contact our District office.

 

Fremont Conservation District Awards

The Fremont Conservation District is proud to announce an annual Conservation Awards Program. Each year Fremont Conservation District will accept nominations in the following categories: Farmer, Rancher, Forester, Vineyard, Small Acreage Landowner, Local Business, Outstanding Project, and Outstanding Educator. To nominate a Fremont County resident for one or more of these awards, please contact our District office.
