No-Till Seed Drill

Fremont Conservation District has a No-Till Seed Drill avalible for rent. All rentals must be scheduled through our District office, and any potential renter must reside within Fremont County.

PRICING AND SCHEDULING:

The No-Till Seed Drill can be rented for up to three days at a time. The total price for renting, including taxes and fees are:

1-Day: $180.40

2-Day: $285.80

3-Day: $391.20

An additional cleaning fee of $80 may be charged if the seed boxes are not properly cleaned out upon return.

EQUIPMENT REQUREMENTS:

The drill is a 10ft wide, and towable behind most pickup trucks to the planting site. The No-Till Seed Drill is housed at Pathfinder Park and Event Center in Florence, and renters will need to plan to pick up and drop off the drill at this location.

The No-Till Seed Drill requires a minimum of a 40 HP tractor with rear remote hydraulics to operate in the planting site.

HOW IT WORKS:

The No-Till Seed Drill is designed to perform several operations in a single step. The front "openers" cut a trench. This is followed by a double-disc seed drill which places the seed at the proper depth. Then, packer wheels cover and pack the soil to ensure good seed-to-soil contact. Depending on field conditions, 10-12 acres can be seeded in a day.

Once scheduled, our District Conservation Techincian will meet you at the planting site to help calibrate and ensure that the drill is functioning properly, and to answer any additional questions you may have.

SEEDS:

The No-Till Seed Drill has three seed boxes: a main grain box, a native grass box for fluffly seed mixes, and a small seed box for alfalfa and similiar sized seeds.

Native grass seed, cover crops, small grain crops, pature mixes, and dryland seed can all be used with the No-Till Seed Drill.

Fremont Conservation District does not provide seeds.

The seed boxes must be cleaned out prior to return, or an additional cleaning fee of $80 may be charged.
