Drought Plan Program

Apply for the Drought Plan Program today!

It’s never too early to prepare for drought. For agricultural producers, creating a drought plan can help to both address the impacts of drought when it occurs and to reduce stress and feelings of powerlessness when facing challenging seasons.

We are excited to announce that Colorado Agricultural Drought Advisors has reopened applications to participate in the Drought Plan Program in the winter/spring of 2023/24!

Funded by a grant from the Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB), the Drought Plan Program is made possible by a partnership between individuals from CSU Extension, Rocky Mountain Farmers Union, and several other entities. We pair producers with advisors-- including professionals from Colorado State University, Bird Conservancy of the Rockies, and private contractors-- who walk with them through the process of creating a unique drought plan. Participating farmers and ranchers will receive $500 for the completion of a drought plan, along with payments of up to $1000 in reimbursement for initial implementation costs.

Applications will be open from September 1st to October 2nd, 2023. Spots are limited!
