Fremont Conservation District is supporting the efforts of CSU Extension in the Central Colorado Food System Partnership.  Below is some information and a survey that can be completed if you are interested in partcipating in this program.    For more information, please contact any of the CSU Extension personnel listed on the screen.

What we are and what we are doing: A group who is researching, through a USDA Regional Food Systems Partnership planning and design grant,  the impact of locally produced food in the Central Colorado region i.e., Pueblo, El Paso, and Fremont Counties to the consumers (direct sales, markets, pantries, restaurants, etc.) in the El Paso County area.  The project's goal is to produce an action plan and resiliency assessment for a sustainable regional food system. This is a collaboration between Colorado State University Extension, El Paso County Public Health, JH Consulting (a private food systems consultant), University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, and City of Colorado Springs Office of Sustainability.

extension colleagues in El Paso County were awarded funding to put together a food systems and farm access project for Fremont, El Paso, and Pueblo counties. They have asked that I share around a survey they’ve put together; they are looking for farmer input, specifically. The more input they get, the better chance they will have at getting more funding to actually put action to results (i.e. distribute funds to farmers to improve access infrastructure).
